Review of My Book (Preview) By Maple Lane Books

The Preface of the book does a good job at introducing the reader to your author profile, as well as explaining the kind of style and voice that you write in. The world is a complicated place, and allowing your audience to discover how you see it through the written word is something that will allow people to connect with your work.

From the Table of Contents which showcase the different verses being titled with one word, we get a sense for the kind of material that we will discover within. The poems included within, or the verse, as you describe them, cover all different kinds of topics that readers from all different backgrounds, ages, and professions will be able to connect with.

Poetry is such a universal form of expression, and you’ve done a good job of putting together this collection that offers up a little bit of something for everyone.

Don’t lose hope when things go wrong

Don’t stop learning in order to understand

Don’t neglect the health of your body

Don’t lie, cheat and try to get away with it

Don’t assume you have all the answers

Just become the person you are meant to be.

Christ's Birth

I know what it was like... just

Hearing about the Christ child.

Hearing the Nativity story

Hearing the songs written and sung

Hearing the Scriptures in the Bible

Hearing the people talk about Him

But once He has come to you; you

Will fully understand and have the

Wisdom of His peace and love.

It is eternal and stays with you in

Your heart, mind, soul and strength.

Christ shall reign forevermore. Amen

Who was William?

Was he a prophet?

Or, maybe a King?

A priest instructed

Through vision, or

Inspiration, to lead,

Or redeem, Israel?

Who is the mother?

The father, relatives

Of this Shakespeare,

This man so versed?

Quotes I have heard

From a child till now,

Most of which apply

In life somehow.

In schools there are

Plays depicting his

Works. Not just then,

Or when I was young.

I hear his words when

I least imagine them,

From people I thought

Didn’t know of him.

Who is William, this

Shakespearean?

Is he the son of Jesse,

The brother of David,

Coming from the line

Of Judah? Another

Psalmist, philosopher,

A man with great

Insights. Or a poet, a

Playwright, with just

A simple message?

Words have a way of

Changing many things

In each one of us live.

Just like a Star, we also

Leave our prints with

Every word we use.

You can call me William

My parents call me Charles,

With all of their heart.
